VMAs: Miley Cyrus lets former homeless man accept Video of the Year award

INGLEWOOD, CA (PIX11) — A former homeless man accepted the Video of the Year award on behalf of Miley Cyrus at Sunday’s Video Music Awards.

In his speech, the man who identified himself as Jesse, said “I am accepting this award on behalf of the 1.6 million runaways and homeless youth in the United States who are starving, lost and scared for their lives right now. I know this because I’m one of those people.”

Cyrus, who won for her “Wrecking Ball” video, watched from the crowd. Jesse continued his speech with information about the music industry and homelessness.
